Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: March 27, 2026

These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the Legal Assistant platform, including our website, user accounts, lawyer profiles, messaging tools, booking flows, payment-related features, and related support services. By creating an account, browsing the platform, booking a consultation, communicating through the platform, or otherwise using Legal Assistant, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

Important Notice

Legal Assistant is a technology platform. We do not provide legal advice, do not act as your lawyer, do not operate a law firm, and do not guarantee any legal outcome. Lawyers using the platform are independent professionals, not employees, partners, joint venturers, or agents of Legal Assistant.

1. Scope of These Terms

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Legal Assistant regarding your use of the platform. If you use the platform on behalf of a business, law firm, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the platform.

2. Platform Services

Legal Assistant provides software tools that help legal seekers discover lawyers, review lawyer profiles, communicate with participating lawyers, request or book consultations, manage account activity, and access support resources.

The platform may also provide lawyers with profile management, verification, scheduling, messaging, and administrative tools. We may add, remove, or modify features at any time.

  • The platform facilitates introductions and communication; it does not itself perform legal services.
  • Any legal services are provided solely by the lawyer you choose to engage.
  • Profile visibility, booking access, and jurisdiction-specific functionality may be limited, suspended, or changed at our discretion.

3. Eligibility and Acceptable Use

You may use the platform only if you are legally capable of entering into a binding contract and your use complies with applicable law.

You may not use the platform if you have been previously suspended or removed, unless we expressly authorize reinstatement.

  • You must provide truthful, current, and complete registration and profile information.
  • You must maintain the security of your account credentials and promptly notify us of suspected unauthorized access.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not authorized by you, unless prohibited by law.

4. California Availability and Jurisdiction Limitations

The platform currently supports California-focused jurisdiction-dependent workflows unless Legal Assistant expressly expands support. Listings, practice-area availability, intake flows, and related content may be limited by jurisdiction and may not be appropriate for matters arising outside supported areas.

You are responsible for confirming that the lawyer you contact is appropriate for your matter and licensed or otherwise authorized where your legal issue arises.

5. No Legal Advice; No Attorney-Client Relationship With Legal Assistant

Information presented on the platform, including profile content, ratings, general materials, communications from Legal Assistant, or system-generated prompts, is for informational and marketplace purposes only and is not legal advice.

Your use of Legal Assistant does not create an attorney-client relationship with Legal Assistant. An attorney-client relationship with a participating lawyer, if any, arises only under the terms agreed between you and that lawyer.

Communications sent through the platform before a lawyer formally agrees to represent you may not be privileged or confidential in the same way as communications with retained counsel. You should avoid sending highly sensitive information until you are comfortable doing so.

6. Lawyer Independence and Platform Role

Lawyers on the platform are independent professionals who control their own legal judgment, client selection, engagement terms, and legal work. Legal Assistant does not direct or control the substance of a lawyer’s advice or representation.

We may review, verify, moderate, suspend, or remove profiles, but we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, quality, availability, ethics compliance, or suitability of any lawyer or legal service.

  • Legal Assistant does not endorse any lawyer simply because the lawyer appears on the platform.
  • Verification or profile approval means only that the platform completed certain internal review steps; it is not a warranty of competence or fitness for a particular matter.
  • Users are solely responsible for evaluating whether a lawyer is right for their needs.

7. Account Registration and Security

Certain features require account creation. You agree to provide accurate information, keep it updated, and maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials.

We may require email verification, identity checks, invite codes, approval workflows, or other account safeguards before granting access to some features.

  • You may not share accounts or allow unauthorized third parties to access your account.
  • You may not impersonate another person, law firm, or organization.
  • We may disable credentials, require password resets, or revoke sessions to protect the platform or its users.

8. Lawyer Profiles, Verification, and Professional Information

Lawyers are responsible for ensuring that their biographies, practice areas, bar admissions, fees, office information, languages, availability, and other profile content are accurate and not misleading.

By submitting professional information, lawyers represent that they have all required rights, permissions, and legal authority to provide that information and to offer services through the platform.

  • Legal Assistant may request supporting documentation, identity verification, bar verification, or administrative review at any time.
  • We may reject, suspend, hide, or remove a lawyer profile for accuracy, compliance, trust and safety, operational, or legal reasons.
  • Lawyers remain responsible for advertising compliance, licensing compliance, conflicts checks, trust-account obligations, client communications, and all other professional duties.

9. Messaging, Intake Information, and Platform Communications

The platform may allow users and lawyers to exchange messages, attachments, booking information, and other intake-related content. You are solely responsible for the content you submit, send, upload, or otherwise make available.

You authorize us to process, store, transmit, display, and moderate platform communications as needed to operate features, enforce these Terms, maintain security, investigate abuse, and comply with law.

  • Do not send unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, fraudulent, or infringing content.
  • Do not upload malware, malicious code, or files intended to disrupt systems or exfiltrate data.
  • Do not use the platform to solicit illegal activity, evade safety controls, scrape data, or harvest contact information.

10. Bookings, Consultations, Scheduling, and Changes

The platform may permit users to request, schedule, reschedule, or cancel consultations with lawyers. Availability shown on the platform may change, may be approximate, and is not guaranteed until confirmed under the applicable booking flow.

Lawyers are responsible for honoring confirmed commitments unless a reschedule or cancellation is permitted under the applicable booking terms, professional obligations, or applicable law.

  • Consultation scope, duration, fees, cancellation windows, and rescheduling rights may be displayed in the relevant booking flow or set by the participating lawyer.
  • Legal Assistant may send reminders, confirmations, or operational notices related to bookings.
  • Disputes about the substance or quality of legal services are generally between the user and the lawyer, subject to any platform policy we choose to apply.

11. Fees, Payments, Refunds, and Taxes

Certain features may involve paid consultations, platform fees, payment processing, refunds, credits, or promotional pricing. By authorizing a transaction, you agree to pay all amounts presented at checkout or otherwise disclosed in connection with the transaction.

Payments may be processed by third-party service providers. Your use of those services may also be subject to the provider’s separate terms and policies.

  • You authorize Legal Assistant and its payment processors to charge your selected payment method for approved transactions, including applicable taxes and fees.
  • Refund eligibility, credits, and charge reversals may depend on the stated booking terms, any applicable refund policy, fraud-prevention rules, and legal requirements.
  • You are responsible for any taxes, duties, or similar government charges associated with your use of the platform, except taxes based on our net income.

12. Reviews, Ratings, Feedback, and Testimonials

Users may be allowed to submit reviews, ratings, testimonials, or other feedback. Such content must be truthful, based on actual experience, and compliant with law.

We may moderate, remove, delay, hide, or decline to publish reviews or feedback for trust, safety, legal, quality, or operational reasons.

  • You may not submit fabricated reviews or coordinate manipulative review activity.
  • Lawyers may not offer compensation or improper incentives in exchange for biased reviews unless clearly permitted by law and platform policy.
  • By submitting feedback, you grant Legal Assistant a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, adapt, and publish that feedback for platform operations and promotion, subject to applicable law and our Privacy Policy.

13. User Content and Platform License

You retain ownership of content you submit to the platform, subject to the rights you grant in these Terms. You grant Legal Assistant a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, display, transmit, and create technical modifications of your content as necessary to operate, secure, improve, and enforce the platform.

You represent and warrant that you own or control all rights necessary to submit the content and that the content does not violate law or third-party rights.

14. Prohibited Conduct

  • Violate any law, regulation, court order, professional rule, or third-party right.
  • Misrepresent identity, credentials, qualifications, affiliations, or authority.
  • Interfere with platform operations, bypass access restrictions, or attempt unauthorized access to accounts, data, or systems.
  • Copy, scrape, harvest, index, frame, mirror, or otherwise extract platform data without written authorization.
  • Use robots, bots, automation, or scripts in a way that burdens or disrupts the service.
  • Upload malware, spyware, ransomware, or harmful code.
  • Circumvent fee obligations, platform policies, safety tools, or moderation systems.
  • Use the platform in a manner that could create legal, reputational, or operational risk for Legal Assistant or its users.

15. Intellectual Property Rights

The platform, including its software, interface design, text, graphics, logos, trademarks, workflows, and compilations, is owned by Legal Assistant or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

Except for the limited right to use the platform in accordance with these Terms, no license or ownership right is granted to you.

  • You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from the platform except as expressly permitted by law.
  • Legal Assistant names, logos, and branding may not be used without prior written permission.

16. Privacy and Data Handling

Our collection, use, disclosure, and retention of personal information are described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

By using the platform, you acknowledge that internet transmissions and electronic storage are never completely secure. We implement reasonable safeguards, but we cannot guarantee absolute security.

17. Third-Party Services and Links

The platform may rely on or integrate with third-party services, including hosting providers, identity verification tools, analytics services, payment processors, communication tools, and other infrastructure providers.

We are not responsible for the availability, security, content, or practices of third-party services, and your use of them may be subject to separate terms.

18. Suspension, Restriction, and Termination

We may suspend, restrict, hide, or terminate any account, profile, content, or feature access at any time, with or without notice, if we believe it is necessary to protect users, comply with law, investigate misconduct, preserve platform integrity, or enforce these Terms.

You may stop using the platform at any time. Termination does not relieve you of obligations incurred before termination, including payment obligations and provisions that by their nature should survive.

19. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Legal Assistant disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, quiet enjoyment, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.

Without limiting the foregoing, Legal Assistant does not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, error-free, timely, complete, or that any lawyer, booking, communication, or outcome will meet your expectations.

20. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Legal Assistant and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, goodwill, data, business opportunities, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the platform.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of Legal Assistant for all claims arising out of or relating to the platform or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to Legal Assistant through the platform in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so portions of this section may not apply to you to the extent prohibited by law.

21. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Legal Assistant and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, licensors, and service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to your content, your use of the platform, your interactions with other users or lawyers, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

22. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except to the extent superseded by applicable federal law.

Before filing a formal claim, you and Legal Assistant agree to attempt to resolve the dispute in good faith by providing written notice describing the issue and the requested resolution. If the dispute is not resolved informally within a reasonable period, either party may pursue available legal remedies.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the platform must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts, except where applicable law requires otherwise or where either party seeks temporary or preliminary injunctive relief.

23. Changes to the Platform and These Terms

We may update the platform, these Terms, and related policies from time to time. Updated Terms become effective when posted or on a later effective date we specify.

Your continued use of the platform after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the platform.

24. General Provisions

  • These Terms, together with any policies or additional terms incorporated by reference, constitute the entire agreement between you and Legal Assistant regarding the platform.
  • If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
  • Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision or any other right.
  • You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or by operation of law.
  • Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.

25. Contact

For questions about these Terms, please contact Legal Assistant through the support tools made available in the platform dashboard or through the applicable contact method identified on the site at the time of your request.
